Build Something Real
Sit down with the founder of Red Leg Brewing Company.
People show up at our taproom to take photos of the building. They call the office asking how we financed it, how we put the land deal together, who built our team, what we’d do differently. The questions come in faster than we can answer them — and the answers aren’t on a website or in a book.
So we built a place to have the conversation.
Who I am
I’m Todd Baldwin. I founded Red Leg Brewing Company in Colorado Springs with 18 maxed-out credit cards, $8.42 in the bank, and 35 rejections from banks behind me. Today Red Leg operates from a 2.5-acre facility at the gateway to Garden of the Gods, runs a multi-million dollar operation across the taproom, self-distribution, events, and tenant businesses, and employs roughly 50 people.
Before Red Leg, I went to VMI, served as an Army officer with the 101st Airborne, and earned a Bronze Star in Iraq. I tell you that not as a résumé, but because the way I think about building something is shaped by all of it — discipline, planning, what it actually costs, and who you bring with you.
If you’re trying to build something — a brewery, a restaurant, a gym, a small manufacturer, a community-anchored business of any kind — and you want a direct conversation with someone who’s done it, this page is for you.
What you get on the call
A direct, no-script conversation about your situation. The most common things people ask me about:
- Structuring financing when traditional banks say no
- What I’d do differently with the build, and what I’d never do again
- Site selection, lease versus buy, working with municipalities
- Building a team and a culture that runs the place when you’re not there
- The brutal months — how to see them coming and plan for them
- How to build a brand that people drive across town for
You leave the call with notes, with names if introductions make sense, and with clarity on what to do next.
Sessions
Build Discovery — 30 minutes — $250. A focused session to talk through your situation, identify the two or three things most worth digging into, and decide whether a longer call makes sense.
Build Deep Dive — 90 minutes — $750. The full conversation. We go deep on your specific project — your numbers, your site, your capital plan, your team, your timeline. Come prepared, and you leave with a roadmap.
Sessions are held over Google Meet. Available Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Payment is collected at booking.
What this isn’t
This isn’t legal, accounting, or investment advice — when you need a lawyer, CPA, or licensed professional, I’ll tell you, and often who to call. The fee reflects what my time costs me: I run a brewery, and I pick up my kids from school every day.
